Even vegans and vegetarians have been known to pack them away on a Saturday night. The great thing about Sunday breakfast at One World Cafe in Tuscany-Canterbury is that it's served until 9 p.m. So stay in bed, or, on second thought, get up and head over to One World for that tofu breakfast burrito.

There's are a handful of very good reasons why Golden West has advanced to the top of Baltimore's brunch class -- the huevos rancheros, the breakfast burrito, the Elvis pancakes (yes, with bananas and peanut butter) the cinnamon French toast (shown here) and, our favorite, the breakfast polenta. It all goes down well in Golden West's cheerful western digs, especially back at the Long Bar, where you're less likely to have a little dogie under your feet. The bonus: Golden West serves breakfast on Saturday, too.

Teavolve in Harbor East is a great place to chill out anytime, but it's also good for when you want have lunch with no one but yourself. The friendly folks at Teavolve will make you feel welcome, but they'll give you some room to ponder and reflect, too. And if it's inspiration you need, order up the iron-pressed waffles topped with Nutella and whipped cream

Is Maryland a northern Southern state or a southern Northern state? With a third Miss Shirley's now open in Annapolis, there is increasing evidence of the latter. Folks pack in to Miss Shirley's seven days a week for the shrimp and grits, the chicken-fried steak and the fried-green tomatoes.

The idea of a Bloody Mary fixings bar is a cool one, but we've seen some pretty shabby Bloody Mary fixings bars in our time. Newcomer Bond Street Social has 120 different items, displayed handsomely, the way it does everything. Neill Howell's brunch menu tempts, too. The eggs Benedict comes with smoked bacon and the French toast bites are served with caramelized apples and butterscotch sauce.

The brunch menu that Victoria Gastro Pub in Columbia serves on Saturday and Sunday isn't huge but it's well curated, pared down to the essential, and creative, sweet and savory treats like Victoria eggs Benedict with prosciutto and crab meat, mascarpone-stuffed challah French toast and "rosti," a dish of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and a Gruyere pancake with dill creme fraiche. Who wants to have to think at brunch?

Nobody has to stand in line at Blue Moon Cafe on Sunday morning. You can get biscuits and gravy, Captain Crunch French toast and muffins as big your head any day of the week. But we understand if you think they taste better on a Sunday. We kind of do, too.

Having a world-class museum to stroll through makes brunch at Gertrude's one of the best Sunday mornings in Baltimore, but brunch at Gertrude's would be a must even without the fine museum attached to it. Try the Back Fin Creek quiche, an oven-warm quiche filled with Swiss cheese, onions and delicious backfin crab meat -- it's a work of art.

If you've considered taking your Ravens love out of the house and into the streets, consider starting in Federal Hill at Regi's. You'll be just a block away from the city's densest collection of Ravens roosts but still with your foot planted on civilized ground. But not with your pinkie in the air -- a few of Regi's brunch dishes are fit for a linebacker.

Slainte flips on its HDTVs and serves breakfast at 7 a.m. on weekends for early-rising English Premier League and FIFA fans. The traditional Irish breakfast at Slainte includes fluffy scrambled eggs, white and black puddings, beans, rashers and toast. That should get your screaming voice in working order.

Did the circus come and go again this year? Don't cry out loud. At the Eggspectation in Ellicott City, you can take in the "Les Cirque des Ouefs,": a fanciful display of egg-shaped wonders that's the calling card of this upscale, breakfast-all-day chain out of Montreal. While you're there, you can enjoy very good pancakes, French toast, and the house specialty, the Crepes Bretonnes served with yogurt.
