For some people, the concert news of the day has already run, and no one’s gonna top it.
They’ll read these names below and say, Are any of these guys VAN HALEN??? Do they wear shiny leather pants and vaguely Middle Eastern scarves and a pinstripe vest and also a belt buckle bigger than Mitt Romney’s head? Are they responsible for “RUNNING WITH THE DEVIIIIIIL!!”?
Ok, no. For everyone else, here’s the other concert news of the day: To raise money for the experimental music festival High Zero, Matmos’s Drew Daniel, Dan Deacon and Schwarz will play DJ sets at the H&H Building’s 5th Dimension April 27.
Leprechaun Catering and John Berndt’s Multiphonic Choir will also perform. Money raised will go towards the production of this year’s festival. Tickets, between $5 and $10, are on sale now.
Countyr singer Dierks Bentley will perform at Pier Six Pavilion June 28. The show seems to have just about filled out the venue’s season. Previously announced performers include Mac Miller and Gavin DeGraw. Bentley is promoting new album “Home.” Tickets, starting at $25 for lawn seats, go on sale Friday.
Lindsey Buckingham, who was said to be preparing a new Fleetwood Mac tour, is setting off on his own, putting in doubt a reunion tour once again. He’ll play Baltimore Soundstage June 14. Tickets, at $56, are on sale already.
Fleetwood last toured in 2010 to huge box office, but they put off 2011 to allow Stevie Nicks and Buckingham to promote solo albums. In March, Mick Fleetwood said the band may never tour again.
Former Preakness Infield headliners Zac Brown Band will play Merriweather Post Pavilion May 31, it was announced last week. The band last released an album two years ago. Tickets, at $42 for lawn seats, are already on sale.
Kelly Clarkson, who’s having a boffo year with album and single “Stronger,” will play Jiffy Lube Live August 23, it was announced Monday. Tickets, starting at $26 for lawn seats, go on sale Friday.
Finished with their own headlining tour promoting “Civilian,” Baltimore’s Wye Oak will set off in support of Dirty Projectors this July. The bands are set to play the 9:30 Club in Washington August 17. Tickets, at $20, are on sale now.
Lupe Fiasco, who played last year’s Sweetlife Festival, is at the Patriot Center in Fairfax May 3. The show was organized by George Mason University student entertainment organization. Tickets, starting at $35, are on sale now.
Also outside of Baltimore: the Loaded Festival in Philadelphia, organized by Baltimore’s Steez Promo. The festival is part of the promoter’s growing portfolio, which now includes Starscape and Fall Massive. The one-day festival, on May 12, is headlined by Rusko and Starscape 2012 acts Flux Pavilion and Wolfgang Gartner. Ticket packages, which vary in price, are on sale now.
