More on My Thai.

By Tim Hill | Posted 9/5/2007

Mount Vernon is home to another Thai restaurant-bringing the total to four, by our count-and My Thai adds nice contrast. The space formerly occupied by Minato, downstairs from Donna's, retains its cool, wine-cellar ambiance, yet now feels simpler and more elegant. My Thai also keeps a sushi chef, for folks who were missing their maki and sashimi, but we went for the namesake and ordered a couple classic Thai dishes to test the waters. The pad woon sen ($9 lunch price)-bean thread noodles sautéed with tomato, chicken, baby corn, shrimp, and egg-was savory and fresh, and there was enough for two meals. Our dining companion's pad thai ($8, lunch price) was too sweet and "wet" for his taste, however. But every Thai restaurant has its own version of the staple dish, so keep that in mind. Our appetizers-wasabi shumai (or won ton balls, $5.50), summer rolls ($6), and seaweed salad ($4.85)-were fresh and tasty, and all plates went down with a beautiful glass of Thai iced tea ($3), which was almost too picturesque to stir. My Thai's menu is large, so we'll have to head back for more.
