Despite the economic downturn that has taken the life of several local restaurants (RIP Bicycle and Brass Elephant), brave souls continue to join Baltimore's culinary landscape. Milan, which promises "eclectic Italian/Mediterranean cuisine," is set to open in the coming months. Located at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Exeter Street, it has the benefit of being adjacent to both Little Italy and Harbor East. We're a bit nervous about the "Italian-inspired sushi" it plans to offer, though.

Don't want to wait? A new restaurant has finally opened up in the American Visionary Art Museum (800 Key Highway, [410] 244-1900). Joy American was a local darling, known for its tableside-prepared guacamole and amazing views. These days, the view is of high-priced condos, but new restaurant Mr. Rain's American Fun House offers a comfort food menu that may hopefully soothe your disappointment. Open for lunch Tuesday-Friday, brunch Saturday and Sunday, and dinner Tuesday-Sunday.
