Restaurant Review
I have had two unfortunate episodes with this restaurant. Shortly after they opened I tried to order the Jalapeno Cheese Steak, but was told they did not have the ingredients (steak, jalpenos, and avacado) to make it. I can only imagine how this would affect the rest of the menu at a Mexican restaurant. Several months passed and I decided to give the elusive sandwich a second try. A few momen ...

blaming a non-smoking law for this bullshit, cowardly murder, is like saying the "answer" is for all of us (even us non-smokers) to start carrying a pack just to distribute to the parasites, lest they kill you--I doubt that the real reason was over cigaretts, it sounds more likely to me that someone wanted to "prove" themselves, maybe to pledge a gang or move up within an organization, and the tas ...

It's The Stupid, Stupid by Brian Morton
Don't forget the bogus gas tax holiday BS that Clinton and McCain tried to push on the campaign trail, as well. Fortunately, for once, most editorials denounced the blatant pander and Sen. Obama had the political courage to oppose it on principle, too.
Remember what they say about even broken clocks being right twice a day.
Thanks for a particularly good column this week.

The Sun wrote that Shipley was killed after she and her boyfriend cashed a WELFARE check to buy CIGS. I am so happy to come to work every day and pay my additional sales tax (thank you O'Malley) to support the nicotine habits of folks who can't be bothered to work (whole other issue in and of itself).
Very sad that she died - nobody deserves an end over something like cigarettes. Clark's right, ...

She obviously didn't want to give a smoke to one of Baltimore's ever-present butt-bummers. (Ever since the ban these vultures are out in force tryin' to bum change & cigs off smokers tryin' to have a peaceful outdoor drink/smoke break.) As a savvy smokin' Baltimore chick Shipley would, pre-Feb. 1, have most likely fed her nicotine jones in the bar then hidden her smokes so the asshole couldn't hav ...

Tree to Tango: New York and Two Local Designers Midwife Campaign to Green Up City
This project is fantastic, and such a great expansion of the original Urban Forest Project, giving it a direct impact on the community! Baltimore is such a beautiful and green city, and I hope that people will look to projects like these as an opportunity to take a moment and sit and reflect about where we are as a city, and where we need to be as an urban ecosystem.

Best Form Over Function: Charm City Cakes
"and did not know about this article until it was mentioned on the show"
I think that speaks volumes. As a baker myself, I can attest to the fact that fondant hasn't any flavor. Same for gumpaste and many of the other things CCC uses to make cakes, like blocks of construction grade rice crispy treats, Styrofoam, and rope. If you call CCC and ask for their prices for a cake, you would be told ...

Blown Away: Is Baltimore in The Middle of a Film Explosion or Are Maryland's Tax Incentives Keeping Productions Away?
Thanks for writing this article. But just so you know, it's kind of bad form to respond immediately and personally to critics.
Subsidizing is the same thing that's happening with the auto industry in a way. Toyota took bids from Mississippi and Alabama on who was going to get their new factory, which would bring jobs to a distressed area. Both had technically skilled workforces and n ...

Restaurant Review
My girlfriend and I tried Three Chef's today (just before 2:00pm on a Monday.) I ordered a reuben, she had a shrimp BLT, and we both got fries.
The reuben was tasty, with good texture and balance. It used a decent sauerkraut (nothing spectacular) and very tender and flavorful corned beef. Instead of russian dressing or thousand island, they used what seemed to be mayonnaise and ketchup.
The sh ...

Blown Away: Is Baltimore in The Middle of a Film Explosion or Are Maryland's Tax Incentives Keeping Productions Away?
Why not give tax breaks to contractors and convenience store owners then? Why tax those kind of people to pay for tax breaks for the film industry? Because those people aren't glamorous and don't allow politicians the chance to hobnob with actors at movie premieres. No politician is going to hold a press conference when an electrician hires a new crew or an entrepreneur opens a new gas station.

Blown Away: Is Baltimore in The Middle of a Film Explosion or Are Maryland's Tax Incentives Keeping Productions Away?
This is the author. If you'd actually read the article, you'd see that films inject millions of dollars into the state. A tax incentive (which MD does not have) would give them a break on a percentage of the tax on the money they spend. Films would spend hundreds of millions *more than that tax benefit* directly into Maryland.
If you want social justice, how about employing people? Film set ...
