The Seventh Annual City Paper Comics Contest

Seventh annual--we've been doing this a while, huh? But seven is the lucky number, right? So maybe 2008 is your year to gain (a small amount of very localized) fame and (awfully little) fortune by winning CP's Comics Contest. Submit seven--hey, there's that number again--installments of your black-and-white comic, which can be a single-panel cartoon or a multipanel strip, to:

Deadline for entries is 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 1.

Entries must be postmarked by Aug. 29 or hand-delivered to our offices by 4 p.m. Sept. 1. The winner, as decided by a judging panel of comics pros and fans, earns a one-year weekly run in City Paper, with pay. Second place garners $100, third $50. Money finishers and selected other entrants get some exposure in our Comics Issue, slated for Sept. 10.

The Comics Contest is open to all Maryland residents 18 and up, except past winners and CP employees, freelancers, and their families. All entries become the property of City Paper, and we won't return them, so don't send originals. Good photocopies are totally fine. Don't just send us your web site, and we won't accept entries on discs or DVDs. We need hard copies.
