If you cringe when recalling mortifying incidents from middle school, Humiliated! probably isn't the show for you. But if you get a thrill out of rummaging through acquaintances' past embarrassments, then a night of nine local writers recounting with relish the humiliations of adolescence will probably rub you the right way. Founder Jamie Parrish hopes to build Humiliated! into a regular showcase, along the lines of Stoop Storytelling and Dave Nadelberg's book-spawning Mortified--with, well, fewer themes and more dignity-be-damned trauma recollections. Mary Alice, star of Food Network's Ace of Cakes, contributes a reading from her sixth-grade-diaries in this inaugural event, and if you experience intense vicarious embarrassment but attend anyway, never fear--maybe the low-key alt-country stylings of Gold Bug will mellow you out enough to enjoy whatever the evening has in store.
