Red Emma's announces pay-it-forward food ordering

Radical bookstore Red Emma's is allowing cash-rich customers to spread the good fortune to those in need.

Through a new suspended ordering system, patrons can order a small coffee, BLT sandwich, or cup of soup that someone who may not be able to afford it can redeem.

"We recognize that economic challenges that folks in our neighborhood face, and it's important to us that Red Emma's exists as a community where we can support each other in different ways," the announcement says.

The purchases will be represented as magnets on a board that anyone can claim.

Magnets can also be purchased online here, and Red Emma's is accepting donations toward the new ordering system through its site.
