The Charmery turns 1, celebrates with Beach Bash Party

At this point, it seems as if The Charmery has always been a part of the Hampden neighborhood, so it's surprising to think they're only just now celebrating their one-year anniversary. They plan to mark the occasion with a party this Sunday.

From noon-10 p.m., the Hampden parlor will morph into a '50s style beach bash, replete with seaside flavors Cherry Cola, Strawberry Daiquiri, and Vegan Piña Colada. New flavors should come as no surprise, as the shop has earned a reputation for specializing in off-the-wall creations such as Duckpin Ale Chocolate (inspired by the Union Craft Brewing beer of the same name), In A Pickle Cucumber Citrus, and Mango Lime Hot Sauce Sorbet – most of which were get-em-while-they-last one–and-dones, something that's made the shop worth a visit even during the coldest months.

Outside of the new flavors, the bash will also include free "baby scoops" with each purchase, beach tunes, and a chance to win all the ice cream you can eat in an hour (which sounds more like a bad dare than a prize, but to each his own). So if you're looking for a break from Artscape, Ratscape, or Foodscape, skip the funnel cake and head north for some Icecreamscape. We've got our eye on that Cherry Cola.
