Dec. 22-Jan. 2: 12 Days of Science

In a year where we have been made to make life-changing decisions while being bombarded by fallacies of every kind and from every direction, it’s best that we spend this season of myth and tradition at the Science Center, discovering the secrets of the universe. 12 Days of Science introduces the scientific method to the holidays with a little chemistry, live demonstrations, food experimenting, and even a mid-winter beach party. This event is geared for the forever-curious family and kids. Although there is no sitting on Santa’s lap, it may be possible to consult with Yoda about the Force while playing with the swamp slime on the Hoth Holiday. There is a different theme daily. A partridge in a pear tree seems pretty boring anyway. 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Maryland Science Center, 601 Light St., (410) 685-5225, mdsci.org, free with museum admission. (Kenneth Stone Breckenridge)
