Dec. 10:“It’s a Wonderful Life” Annual Benefit Screening

“It’s a Wonderful Life” turns 70 this year, but we watch it every year and this particular showing benefits GEDCO Cares food pantry, which has been feeding people in Govans for a quarter century. In 2015, GEDCO responded to more than 7,000 requests for emergency food and financial assistance and found jobs for more than 200 people. You can see the five-time Academy Award-nominated movie—Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, and director Frank Capra laying down the movie-making language relied-upon ever since—on the big screen for no cash outlay. Just bring some non-perishable food to the lobby. The suggested donation is just $5 worth. You can do better than that though. We all can do better. 10 a.m., The Senator Theatre, 5904 York Road, (410) 323-4424, thesenatortheatre.com, free. (Edward Ericson Jr.)
