Transylvania Twist DanceRink returns to Theatre Project (45 W. Preston St., [410] 539-3091, theatreproject.org) to perform its version of Dracula. Adapted from a 1938 radio-play starring Orson Welles, director and choreographer Scott Rink's troupe will dance its way through the blood sucking Oct. 28-Nov.1. This isn't the the only dance company getting its boo on this week. The Ballet Theatre of Maryland teams with the Maryland Historical Society for Specters, Phantoms and Poe on Oct. 30. It's a ballet tribute to Mr. Bicentennial himself, Edgar Allan Poe and a rare chance to see Maryland's premiere ballet company in Baltimore (201 W. Monument St., [410] 685-3750, mdhs.org.)

You can also check out a collaboration between local composers and choreographers at Sound in Motion II at the Baltimore Museum of Art (1 p.m. 10 Art Museum Drive, [443] 573-1700, baltimorecomposersforum.com) on Oct. 31. It's part of Free Fall Baltimore so the price is right, and despite the devilish date, the theme is Community Ties, making it a welcome antidote to those who are Halloween-ed and Poe-ed out.

And if that isn't enough dance to twinkle your toes, Maya Dalinsky, a dancer from Brussels, performs solo and with local experimental-types at the Red Room at Normals Books and Records (425 E. 31st St., redroom.org) on Oct. 28.

A Graveyard Smash Of course, dancers aren't the only ones milking Halloween for all its worth. The Creative Alliance at the Patterson (3134 Eastern Ave., [410] 276-1651, creativealliance.org) hosts Baltimore Improv Group's Monster Mash on the second spookiest night of the year-the first being New Year's Eve. Stop shooting into the air, people. Free candy if you wear a costume.

Last Chance Hey Howard Countians, there are two plays closing in your neck of the woods on Nov. 1. The so-wrong-it's-right Hysteria, about a meeting of Salvador Dali and Sigmund Freud that is equal parts British farce and serious drama, takes its final bow at Rep Stage (Howard Community College, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, [410] 772-4900, repstage.org), and Chesapeake Shakespeare Company's Julius Caesar takes one last turn through the ruins at the former site of the Patapsco Female Institute (3691 Sarah's Lane, Ellicott City, [866] 811-4111, chesapeakeshakespeare.com).
