Media Sales Consultant

City Paper, Baltimore’s source for local news, arts, music and entertainment--is seeking an energetic, outgoing individual for Multi-Media Advertising Account Executive position. The right candidate will be responsible for selling multi-platform advertising solutions including Digital Advertising (email, mobile, tablet, websites), Print advertising, Event Sponsorships, and annual glossy publications to an eclectic and exciting group of clients.

We are looking for connected, social-media savvy, high-energy, hyper-productive individuals who devour advertising media and want to be part of a dynamic sales team. Multi-Media Account Executives will be responsible for prospecting leads, making calls and going on appointments to bring in new business. News Reporter

City Paper is looking for an energetic, ambitious, smart news reporter.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years experience reporting and writing a wide range of news stories, from quick blog posts on breaking news to long-form features that dive deeply into complex stories on topics like crime, courts, the environment, local and state politics, public works, business, and unions. Experience in Baltimore is preferred but not required. If you have done excellent reporting and writing on similar topics in a different city, we'd love to hear from you. Experience with alt-weeklies is also preferred but not required. All candidates should be very familiar with Baltimore City Paper and its style. The reporter will also be expected to contribute to other sections of the paper, potentially including arts sections and Eats and Drinks, and definitely including special issues like Best of Baltimore, Sizzlin' Summer, and our year-end Top 10s issue. We are a small staff that is passionate about covering Baltimore, and we look forward to meeting similarly passionate candidates.

Editorial Internship

City Paper offers a number of paid editorial internships for the fall, winter, spring, and summer. Editorial interns are crucial to our weekly process, checking all the facts in each story and listing, from shows and concerts in town to features about Baltimore's drug and crime scene, for example.Interns also maintain the City Paper online calendar (and ultimately, its published weekly calendar), which familiarizes them with many of the goings on in Baltimore. Interns will be required to pitch and write stories regularly, and if an intern is interested in a particular section of the paper or style of writing, we work to encourage and facilitate that interest. We look for students who are self-motivated, critical, and aggressively meticulous. If you put the time and effort into this internship, you will get a lot out of it.

The internship pays a $1,000 stipend, requires a minimum of 120 hours of in-office work, and will span the semester.


Photography Internship

The photography interns spend one shift per week working with other editorial interns, checking the facts in all of City Paper's articles and listings, so everything from the compilation of shows and concerts in town to features covering Baltimore's drug and crime scene. Interns also maintain the City Paper online calendar (and ultimately, its published weekly calendar), which familiarizes them with goings on in Baltimore. But the photography interns will spend at least one shift per week working directly with a photographer or in the field with a writer (as a working photographer would) and will provide photo galleries for the website and photographs for stories in the paper, while also assisting and learning from the photographers they shadow and the writers they assist.

City Paper Street Team

City Paper is always looking for people to be a part of their street team! What does this mean to you?

- Free admission to some of the hottest events around the city (for you AND a guest)

Here's how it works:

When CP has events that we need covered, we email ALL of our Street Team members at the same time, offering them the opportunity to cover an event. If you're able to cover the event and you're the first to reply to the email, you get it!!

Sometime during the week, you will have to come to the City Paper offices to grab some swag bags to pass out at the event. Once at the event, you pass out the grab bags and take pictures of people at the event.

You email those pictures back to CP and for that, you get a prize pack CHOCK-FULL of goodies!
